Natural does not mean automatically safer.
Natural extracts are mixtures of chemicals. Both natural and synthetic fragrance materials can cause irritation or sensitisation in some people. Safety depends on the material, dose and finished formula.
A broader palette.
Synthetic materials can create effects unavailable from extraction, provide consistency and reduce reliance on some scarce natural resources. Natural extracts can contribute complex, variable profiles.
Sustainability requires evidence.
Neither origin guarantees a smaller environmental footprint. Cultivation, energy, land use, synthesis, processing and transport all matter. Ask for substantiated claims, not a simple label.
General fragrance education, not medical or product safety advice. Note impressions vary; always follow a finished product's labelling. For fragrance safety standards, see IFRA's safe-use guidance ↗.
